Nuln, day 2
As Abel & Gotrak set off to their respective studies (with some jibes & jeers from their companions), the others set off on their personal inquiries.
The Shallyan knight Vasili visits the temple of Shallya. He meets the acting head mistress, Matrone Helga. Most of the senior staff is out helping the war effort on both the nortern front as the various civil war zones. She has little time or patience for a knight who "fights evil" in the name of the goddess of healing and mercy. But if he wants to prove his worth, he can try to find the long lost Cloth of Saint Kartin. The holy relic had been lost centuries ago when the radical saint was fighting Ratmen in the sewers. He must also adhere to her wishes that no blood shall be spilt at his hands in Nuln, to which he agrees.
Lothar wishes to visit the Cathedral of Sigmar, Felix waits outside. Lothar gets a vision of a spinning hammer in front of some kind of dimensional gate as he prays to the satue of Sigmar. Unsure what this means he wants to speak to the head priest. The acolytes who witnessed him glowing bring him to Father Gottsfrucht who proves to be a fanatic zealot, more bent in stomping our the "heretical" Ulricians than anything else. When he learns that Lothar is the Champion of Middenheim he expells him out of the Cathedral and threatens to execute the traitorous Lothar.
Meanwhile outside, Felix witnesses the arrival of a large band of Flaggelants and as he observes, he is harassed by two city guard. However, once they hear his family name, they quickly abandon him with much excuses.

...And evil walks among them
Solar wishes to go to the Garden of Morr, to investigate the sickness reported by Raaf. Accompanied by the others they first set out to investigate the graves. They soon find some giant rat prints, which lead them to a Mausoleum with a large crack in the corner. It's not large enough for a man but Solar's familiar Gaelien is a pigeon. Seeing trough its eyes, the light mage discovers a dug tunnel that leads deep into an old part of the sewers. Most importntly, he recognises Skaven symbolism around its opening. He asks Raaf to see the sick Priests of Morr, all elderly dream oracles. Solar manages to cure the unknown sickness.
Meanwhile Vasilli and Lothar witness a poisoning in front of the Golden Hammer Inn, the victim is a trade companion to Otto Jaeger, who promptly invites the two to his mansion nearby. He explains that he is the brother of Felix Jaeger who together with his companion and trollslayer Gotrek Gurnisson had a run in with Skaven some years ago and foiled a plot of the Skaven invading the city. He hires the two with a large sum of gold to get rid of the Skaven problem for once and for all.
They return to the Three Crowns Inn to discuss their plans when suddenly they spot their erstwhile companion Mandred Vogel strolling by with not a care in the world! They quicly set off in pursuit and shadow him until he passes by the main gate towards the palace where he is not even stopped. The crew however are not allowed past. They are left to fret what misschief the corrupted magician can be up to.

The assassination mishap
That evening, Abel returns from his studies, he has learned how to create gunpowder and has seen wonders of engineering. He even met one of the Salpeter Men (see last session). Gotrak is nowhere to be found, but the crew figure he is probably off drinking somewhere. After hearing about the events of the day the adventurers set off to Hobgoblin Hill. Thanks to their errant of last night (planting some documents in a noble's house, and some other things best left unspoken) they are finally allowed entrance. Once inside the Corlusbeni Turf, they sit in a local tavern where they manage to remain inconspicuous while keeping an eye on the mansion of Enrico. When the stars are up, a fancy carriage hutrles toward Nuln. It's the son of the crime lord, accompanied by four bodyguards: An Estalian Diestro, a Knight of Myrmidia, a Shadowmage and a Norse Barbarian. The heroes follow them to... The Golden Hammer Inn!
Once inside, they concoct an elaborate plan (while sending Vasilli to sing for the crowd, and thereby getting rid of his troublesomemorals). With the help of a little magic and Felix excellent sleight of hand, and Abels witty charm, they manage to slip some poison into the drink of Enrico. He drinks from the cup and convulses but, much to their horror and dismay, Vasilli spots this and propmtly saves the crime "prince".
Enrico is so grateful that he invites the knight and his companions back to his house. Somewhat baffled, the would-be assassins join and are treated to a rowdy party. There is no way to assassinate him now but at least they got a good look at the layout of his home, his guards and defences.
