The History of Otfried Osten
It all began 34 years ago,
Being born as the 7th son of the wealthy family of the house of Osten in the small town of Smallhof it was decided, as local tradition prescribes it, that I would become a priest once I would be old enough.
As the nearest temple was one that worshipped Ranald my father decided that would be the best choice. He also hoped that this would bring him the favor from the god of coin and enlarge his wealth.
As I became a teenager it was clear that a monks life was not the thing I wanted.
Although very skinny I proved to be a true born warrior, beating kids 3 to 5 years older than myself. But my father had made a promise to a god and who was I to deny him this.
But then I met her, the most beautiful girl ever to walk this earth, Brunilda.
Now it was impossible for me to become a priest as my soul purpose in life was to love her, how could the gods be so cruel to deny me this?
I made plans to run off with her during the last night befor I left to become a priest. There would be a great feast and everybody would be drunk enough so that we could escape unnoticed.
Brunilda’s father however kept a close eye on her as he had heard the rumors of us being in love. He had posted a spy near Brunilda’s room and she was caught while trying to escape through the window.
Is I was preparing myself to escape all of a sudden 3 guards broke down my door and my nose.
I was persecuted as a traitor and exiled from the village, Brunilda was to take my place as a priestess so that the gods would not be to angered at them. My whole world fell apart, I wandered from village to town to cities not caring what the next day would bring. Until the day my luck turned , I thought, I had somehow managed to get into a high stake pit fight and was somehow winning every battle I fought that evening. At the end I won the grand price of 400 gold pieces by defeating the local hero. Later I found out he was sponsored by the biggest thug in town and he wanted me dead, still does I suppose. His man found me drunk on the road and beat me half to death. While I was dying I accidently grabbed something that was lying beside me in the mud. I brought it closer to my blood shut eyes, it was a trinket of a hammer, the hammer of Sigmar, at that moment I saw a cloaked figure bending over me and then everything went black.
When I woke up there were two figures by the side of my bed two humans an Arabian warrior named Lothar El-Kaloffi and an apprentice wizard called Mandred Vogel had found me near the road and brought me to a temple of Sigmar where Lothar was worshipping his god.
They cared for me until I was back on my feet.
I swore to them that I would repay my debt to them and finally saw where the gods had led me. That day I vowed to become a priest to Sigmar and to devote the rest of my life to worshipping him.
Years later I would meet these two again and together we would life through the greatest adventure ever.
The Abbot who ran the temple took me under his wing and started teaching me. As my father had prepared me to become a priest he noticed I already had much of the basic skills needed to become a priest. He also noticed my natural gift for battle and taught me how to wield the two handed hammer of Sigmar. One night I overheard him talking to a guy wearing a flame marked medallion. They were discussing that it would be best for me to join the Order of the flame but the Abbot did not want this.

They were discussing that it would be best for me to join the Order of the flame but the Abbot did not want this.
I forgot about that evening and enjoyed my training and life in the temple. But as it goes these good things never last long in my life.
On a very dark night all of the sudden my cell door exploded into splinters and a small green drooling creature stormed forward carrying a rusted curved saw tooth sword. He lashed out at me but my training and natural ability saved my life. I rolled out of the bed and hit him with my fist between the legs while lying on the ground. The creature doubled over and I pulled up my two handed hammer from near my bed and crushed his skull. But unfortunately the temple was already completely over run. While I was trying to escape I saw the Abbot lying o pool of his own blood. He instructed me to contact the order in Altdorf and tell them I was sent by him. Then he pushed me away and told me to flee.
After running for what seemed weeks I ran into a band of travelling gypsies, who had also been ambushed by some greenskins. Some of them had been badly wounded so I offered to tend to their wounds . They asked me to join them as their own healer had died during the ambush. I joined did accept the offer and started travelling with them, discovering there was so much to see in this world.
Until the day we had settled down in a town for a carnival, a rider who as if he had travelled around the world and back asked for my name. With a big sigh he told me he had been looking for me for months.
He was bearing the sad news that my elderly home had also been destroyed by the greenskins and he gave me a purse of gold, telling me that this was all left from my inheritance.
To comfort me a girl named Aisha who was one of the Gypsy girls gave me a little kitten, telling me I could have her until my sadness had passed and would then have to give it back to her. That evening while wandering outside the town thinking about my past , my brothers and my father I heard a scream.
When I arrived at the scene where the scream came from I saw a dwarf being beaten by some thugs, I pulled out my hammer and while shouting a battle cry for Sigmar charged them. They were so surprised that they turned and ran.
The Dwarf turned out to be a pit-fighter and as my religion told me to protect Dwarfs I tended his wounds until he was fit enough to care for himself again.
In the meantime I had been thinking and decided it was time to travel to Altdorf and continue my training. I had remembered the conversation the Abbot had had that night with the man wearing the flame marked medallion and decided to search for him and ask him to train me.
I asked the Dwarf named Gotrak to join me and as loyal as Dwarfs are to someone who saved their life he accepted
Here our story begins….
About the Order of the Flame:
The last of the major orders, the feared Order of the Flame, is not well known by the populace at large. It guards the Empire from corruption, charged to seek out and destroy the dark seeds of Chaos wherever they may lie. The flame-marked medallions worn by the orders inquisitor priests grant them access to all Sigmarite temples, monasteries, and chapterhouses in the Empire, and local cultists are expected to grant them any "reasonable" request. Although most Empire citizens have never heard of the order, without its protection, the Empire may have fallen to the Dark Powers centuries ago.

About Ostland: Its symbol is a bull and its colours are black and white. Ostlanders are prone to heavy drinking, and booze is a cultural remedy to fear, in these grim dark times and living so close to the chaos of the north, many Ostlanders will spend their entire lives inebriated. Full beards are common and indeed practical in the harsh cold climate.
Ostland is located between Nordland (to the east), Hochland and Talabecland (to the south), and Kislev (to the north).
The province is largely covered by the Forest of Shadows, which harbours several tribes of beastmen and Forest goblins besides common bandits.
Sigmarite worship is prevalent in the capital, whilst Taal, Rhya and Ulric are more commonly worshipped across the sparsely populated region.
A higher percentage of Ogres live in Ostland than any other province of the Empire. Many are now citizens who settled and joined Ostlander family units. Ostlander's are impressed by firepower and many of their weapons have double barrels.
