About Ostermark: The League of Ostermark is a province in the Empire. It is often referred to as the Mark.
It borders Sylvania (part of the province of Stirland) to the south, Ostland to the west, the land of Kislev to the north and the World's Edge Mountains to the east. The capital of Ostermark is Bechafen which lies in the northern part. The ruined former capital Mordheim is in Southern Ostermark. It was destroyed by a warpstone comet, but a crusade of Empire Knights was led that razed it to the ground.
Ostermark is a mostly rural state, since, unlike its neighbours, its soil is fertile and ideal for agriculture. The low-tech level of the major industries of Ostermark often leads to its people being mocked in other states as simpletons. This is an unfair reputation however, as the people of the Mark are as stout and capable of those of any other province - if not more so, for Ostermark regularly sends troops to assist Kislev in its battles against northern barbarians. As a result its forces are perhaps more hardened to war against the Chaos barbarians than any others in the Empire. The state colours of Ostermark are Purple and Yellow or Purple and White
A peculiarity in Ostermark armies are the frequent incorporation of Dwarf Slayers. This is due to the close proximity the Dwarf Hold Karak Kadrin, better known as "Slayer Keep".

Background:
Mandredd was born in the small village of Fortenhaff.
His father was a retired mercenary and his mother a scribe that had been cast out from her family for marrying Mandredds father.
When Mandredd was five, his father died fighting bandits who were raiding the village. His mother remarried a childhood friend who still had feelings for her and they moved back to Fortenhaff.
Mandredd grew up to be a strong and able-bodied youth who liked rough-housing, fighting and competing with the spear, his departed fathers chosen weapon. He was strong-willed and never got along with his adopted family who scorned him for his lack of intelligence, something that was held very high in this family of scholars.
When, to everyone's surprise, a magickal aptitude was discovered in Mandredd, he chose to attend the university simply to spite his adopted family. It was very hard for him but his willpower and mother helped him cope with the difficult classes and preparation.
At that time, he wanted to join the bright college and become a warrior mage, in honor of his father.
At his eighteenth birthday he skipped some classes to attend a fair, set up by gypsies from Kislev. He was in the company of his two friends and accomplices in mischief Lothar Kaloffi and Abelheim Reichert. At the doom readers tent he got his fortune told in a most disturbing way. The old man looked at him and in a rasping, fell voice he said: "your fate will be more horrible then mortal mind can comprehend and mortal tongue can speak." Upon which his eyes rolled back in his head and he died from hart failing right then and there on the spot.
Mandredd decided he would not become a bright wizard but join the celestial Order and as a blue wizard he'd find a way to avoid this fate. He started to really commit to his studies, using the help of his two cronies to scam money from other students to pay for help with his classes, steal exam questions, locate and sometimes steal artefacts and books necessary to increase his wisdom.
When he was twenty five he returned from a trip to a neighboring city's library and decided, confident in his martial and magickal skills, to take a shorter and more dangerous road. At midnight he came upon a heavily beaten and thoroughly robbed priest beside the road. Even tough it was still hours to walk to the nearest settlement, he took the man upon his broad back and carried him trough the forest to deliver him at a temple of Sigmar where his wounds were healed. The man's name was Otfried Orsten and the became friends even tough Mandredd worshiped Ulric and the man was a Sigmarite.
Trough him, Mandredd made the acquaintance of Gotrak Mitttnachson, a Dwarven pit-fighter who was considerably older then both of them. His rough and experienced demeanor stood in stark contrast with every man Mandredd had ever known in his life as a young adult. Unconsciously it reminded him of his father when he had been an infant and the dwarf became a father figure to him. He provided an alternative pastime to the hours reading and studying by working out with him, drinking and telling impossible and violent tales of epic combats.
Mandredd is arrogant and stubborn. He despises men who came into wealth or power trough heritage rather then working for it themselves and people who are content to stay with their miserable lot instead of doing something about it. He admires martial and magickal prowess. He's not afraid of getting his hands dirty even morally so and has a practical outlook on things. He's not a people person but loves his mother and is fiercely loyal to his comrades.
Taking after his father, Mandredd is tall and muscular but hours of sitting behind a desk has given him a slough. He sometimes suffers from minor back-pains. His hair is dark, long and braided, shaven at the sides of his scalp. He has penetrating dark eyes and, except when he's very happy, a scowl on his face. He's very curious and sometimes not careful enough rather than brave.

About Celestial Magic:
The Lore of the Heavens is the magic of the sky and stars, of portents, fate, and the movement of heavenly bodies. More commonly known as Astromancy, it is based on manipulation of Azyr, the Blue Wind of Magic. Magisters of this lore are known as Celestial Wizards and they are famed oracles, diviners, and masters of the skies and stars.
As they grow in power, Celestial Wizards grow ever more unearthly and dreamlike. Heir eyes turn to a glowing blue, and their hair tends towards white. Full of slow, graceful movements, Celestial Wizards seldom hurry anywhere.
